JAM YOO

Born in 1993, Baton Rouge, LA.
Lives and works in New Haven, CT.
Jam Yoo is an interdisciplinary artist and art educator based in New Haven, Connecticut. With an expanded practice encompassing painting, drawing, collage, installation, time-based media, and sculpture, Yoo’s surfaces and forms examine the experience of looking and recognition through ornamentation and iconography as a rhizomatic experience of time and history. Recent exhibitions and performances include Primary Veins, Chilli Art Projects (London), Berio - Sequenza XIVb 2004 with bassist Nagase Yuki, and Perrotin (New York, NY). He is currently preparing a solo presentation with Nicodim Gallery (Los Angeles, CA). Yoo holds a BFA from Cornell University and a MFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Yale School of Art.
