RUSSELL MORTON

Russell Morton is a Singaporean artist and filmmaker whose work mobilises Southeast Asian folkloric figures and esoteric rituals, enmeshing mythological narratives and existentialist con- cerns. His short films are driven by the spellbinding physicality of the characters, the engrossing lavishness of the visuals, and the evocative power of the soundtrack. After graduating in Fine Arts from the University of Arts London he returned to Singapore to understudy with artist/filmmaker Ho Tzu Nyen. Morton also recently garnered the award for Most Outstanding SEA Director at the Rolling Youth Film Festival in conjunction with Busan International Film Festival 2022.
