LIZETTE HERNANDEZ

Lizzette Hernández (1992), a set of four ceramic works simulates the colors and textures of ancient artifacts unearthed at archaeological sites, evoking a deep sense of melancholy and nostalgia. The works mimic the aura of relics, which typically exist in a dual state: both as living tools used and revered by current faith communities and as indexed dead objects discovered, cataloged, and displayed by anthropological and historical institutions. Hernández's works view the divine function as an internal attribute that can be materialized.
