Singaporean artist and filmmaker Russell Morton probes at the body politics of alterity and liminality as refracted through the cinematic apparatus. Keyed to the rhythms of Southeast Asia’s entwined histories, Morton composes fantastic tableaus that draw on rituals and folklore to re-examine how power choreographs ways of being across the times and spaces of coloniality to continually reconfigure social memories and behaviours. A timely introduction to the work of a rising image-maker, Foreign Bodies features a suite of moving images which have been acclaimed collectively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, and marks Morton’s first solo exhibition in Taiwan.
