PTT Space is proud to present Small Things Here and There, a group exhibition featuring five Taiwanese and Japanese artists, in collaboration with Tomio Koyama Gallery (Tokyo). Curated by Taiwan-born US-based curator Alfonse Chiu, the exhibition brings together works that each toy with and deploy the visual conventions of cuteness and uncanniness in their existential reflections and musings on themes such as urban isolation, nostalgia, and interpersonal relationships.

By subtly warping the visual conventions and markers of the cute, such as big eyes and rounded body, the works in Small Things Here and There render a profound sense of eeriness and dislocation, but also impressions of vulnerability and helplessness that encourage empathy and gentleness. Through these observations on the almost irrational power of cuteness in structuring bodies and behaviours, Small Things Here and There imagines cuteness as a strategic tool in getting us to both notice and forget, starting first with the small things around us, here and there.
